As a Research Scientist, Analytical Chemist, you create chemistry by...

  • Conducting both GLP and non-GLP analysis of pesticide formulations, active ingredients, and inerts. Developing and validating methods for the quantitative analysis of active ingredients, formulations, and related compounds.
  • Utilizing existing and implementing new analytical technologies to increase analytical efficiencies or solve formulation-based problems.
  • Actively participating in and driving the automation, standardization, and digitization of laboratory activities.
  • Liaising closely with stakeholders from Marketing, Biology, Regulatory, and Manufacturing to understand business needs and determine the best development path forward. Communicating project status through technical reports and presentations.
  • Participating in the transfer of methods to manufacturing sites and providing subsequent analytical support to those sites as needed.
  • Responsible for delivering BASF internal GLP studies by outsourcing activities such as Contract Research Organization (CRO) identification, working with procurement for contracting, study monitoring, and providing technical consultation.

If you...

  • Have an MS, preferred, with a minimum of 2 years of industrial experience, or a BS with a minimum of 5 years of industrial experience.
  • Possess experience with HPLC (UV/Vis), with knowledge of GC and physical chemistry techniques preferred.
  • Demonstrate a serious focus on safety, attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Have experience interfacing with R&D and Manufacturing departments.
  • Bring strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Have previous experience with automation and/or digitalization of laboratory activities, preferred.
  • Bring an analytical chemistry background with GLP experience preferred.
  • Have experience working in a GLP environment and knowledge of regulatory guidelines (e.g., EPA, OECD, EU, IBAMA, SANCO, CIPAC, etc.) preferred.
  • Possess knowledge of analytical methods for formulation and application technologies (granulation, emulsion, encapsulation) in the field of Crop Protection.
  • Exhibit excellent performance management skills for self and subordinates.
