The utility operator is responsible for operating and maintaining the site’s utility systems and equipment, including steam boilers, air compressors, cooling towers, deionized water system, heat transfer oil heaters, thermal oxidizers, and diesel operated fire pumps and electrical generating sets. This person will also support overall site maintenance and preventive maintenance programs on off-shifts and contributes and adheres to safety, environmental, quality and EEO/AA standards of the corporations, division and location.
- Control and operate site utility systems, including start-up, shutdown and recovery.
- Perform operator maintenance and troubleshooting of natural gas fired steam boilers, thermal oxidizers, and heat transfer oil heaters and associated control systems and for centrifugal air compressors and associated control systems.
- Maintain water treatment systems, including sampling, testing and adding chemicals.
- Support site maintenance requirements as needed; serve as primary maintenance support during night shifts and weekends.
- Support various maintenance projects; perform refurbish work orders and develop/review/update site procedures as assigned.
- Assure that assigned Process Safety related mechanical integrity inspections are completed in a timely manner. Support Process Safety programs through participation in compliance audits, PreStart Up Safety Reviews, PHAs (Revalidations; Clean-Sheets) and other hazard / risk assessment activities, utilize available Process Safety Information in the safe performance of work activities as well as complete and provide feedback on Process Safety related training.
- Utilize Management of Change to assure timely communication and training of process related changes to affected personnel, participate in process safety related incident investigations and complete assigned action items in a timely manner. Accept personal responsibility to act according to process safety regulations and company directives.
- A High School Diploma or GED required
- 1 year of industrial maintenance experience including experience with pumps and valves required.
- A state of Ohio Boiler Operator License (Preferred)
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, climb steps and ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs.
