Main Objective of the Position:

Responsible for the management of US benefit plans and programs and the variations that exist for different BASF populations, including active employees, retirees, management and union represented.

Main Tasks:

  • Support the US retirement benefit plans, including qualified and non-qualified defined benefit and defined contribution plans encompassing active employees and retirees, with related trust assets of $8 billion and total annual benefit payments of $250 million.
  • Ensure appropriate regulatory compliance, administration, and controls over retirement plans through employee data and transaction analysis/audits and reconciliations.
  • Identify and arrange corrections of data, contribution, and recordkeeping errors.
  • Oversee financial reporting controls reviews and coordination for annual testing, preparing and processing funding timely for multiple benefit plans, and preparing and distributing benefit plan-related reporting to key stakeholders.
  • Accountable for processing invoices for all retirement plan vendors.
  • Support the maintenance of retirement benefit plans and HRIS/Payroll systems and controls.
  • Coordinate and communicate frequently with internal Payroll, Data Management, HR4You, Treasury, Finance, and Accounts Payable teams, as well as with outside vendors and service providers, including plan recordkeepers and actuaries.
  • Assist with team projects and discussions as needed, including M&A arrangements.
  • Responsible for updates and changes in benefit plans and related administration, including strategic changes, regulatory changes, vendors, and systems that occur on a frequent and ongoing basis.
  • Provide minor administrative support to the Canada and US Health and Insurance team.

Minimum Education and Qualification Requirements for the Position:

  • Education | Advanced students or degree holders in Business Administration, Labor Relations, or a similar field.
  • Work Experience | 3 to 5 years of experience in similar roles
  • Languages | Advanced proficiency in English, both oral and written, will be tested.
  • Technical Skills | Advanced Microsoft Office skills and knowledge in SAP are desired. Familiarity with US 401(k) and pension plan design principles and operations is highly valued. Knowledge in SAP HR reporting is beneficial.
  • Soft Skills | Strong teamwork abilities complemented by excellent communication and organizational skills. Customer-oriented mindset. Self-directed and proactive in identifying issues and applying creative problem-solving techniques. Requires strong analytical, financial, and systems skills. Proficient in mathematical and analytical thinking, with a systems-oriented approach to identify and resolve issues. Demonstrates a keen attention to accuracy and detail, with the ability to prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
