About the Department

In the "Simulation Engineering" department, we offer this position at the Immenstaad location. The Engineering department supports the Business Line Simulation and is responsible for the development, delivery, and operation of reference plants for integration support and training systems. Within the framework of the Simsphere® Simulation Suite, simulators for sensor systems are created that allow the user to simulate a complex overall scenario in combination with other simulators and to verify it under performance criteria. Different variations of the simulation support system development, integration, and proof of concept, and allow early training of the end-user on the system.

As a student, you will work directly with the development team. You will work on exciting tasks and gain direct insight into the system and software development of simulation systems.

The extension of the activity to a final thesis is possible.

As a replacement for a currently used binocular, a new solution is to be realized. This includes the integration of a VR headset into the existing training system as well as the design and creation of a 3D-printed housing. In addition to the VR headset, a position sensor is to be integrated into the housing, and the corresponding overall wiring is to be realized.

Your Tasks

• Market survey and analysis of currently available VR headsets
• Integration of a VR headset into the existing simulation system
• The VR headset should be used as a simple monitor output
  The tracking is realized via a separate position sensor
• Design and print of a prototype of the housing

Your Profile

• Enrolled student in the field of computer science, information technology, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, business informatics, mathematics, or comparable
• Programming skills in at least one programming language
• Experience with VR headsets
• Experience in 3D printing
• Creativity, initiative, and enjoyment of technology
• Very good German and English language skills
